MAVIG Lower Body Protection Systems for operating tables close a gap in radiation protection. The universal panels can be combined and strategically placed to adapt to multiple situations and user demands. For the majority of operating tables, conventional lower body protection devices, such as used e.g. in the catheterization lab, cannot be used. In particular, operating tables with tiltable segments require individual solutions. With the UT30, MAVIG presents a technical solution offering optimal radiation protection of the lower body for the user for nearly all operating tables on the market. The radiation protection panels synchronize to all movements of the table, effectively protecting the medical staff.

Table-mounted shields for lower scattered radiation are an indispensable safety tool for the physician and staff. Such shields have long been an established standard in interventional radiology. The UT70 table-mounted shield offers flexibility with maximum protection. Thanks to the modular design of the lower body protection, all components are interchangeable to give you the option to decide what amount of protection is needed and from which side of the table (possible mounting position: left or right).

The new large X-ray protective lower body table shield does not only protect the doctor but the assistant as well. An accessory rail has been built into the shield to give the needed space for table and C-Arm controls, as well as other required equipment.

NEW:  The outer cover of the flexible X-ray protective shields is now made of the recyclable material TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). This material is extremely resistant to tension and tearing, phthalate-free, and can be easily disinfected with commercially available cleaning agents. The material‘s compatibility with the radiation protection material has been proven in climatic chamber tests. In addition, the TPU material guarantees an enormously long service life thanks to a new, patented manufacturing process (high-frequency welding).

The MAVIG ST-ER drape has been developed for the protection of medical staff by minimizing the scatter radiation emitted by the patient’s body. The radiation protection cover, positioned on the patient’s body, stops the majority of the scattered radiation emerging from the patient’s body towards the medical staff.

A typical application: ERCP (endoscopic retrograde
cholangiopancreatography), however, a great number of applications is possible.

MAVIG’s patented Portegra2 suspension arm provides its industry-known safety features and movement flexibility. The laterally guided shield provides increased protection with its flexible drape panels, better shielding the user from scattered radiation emanating from the patient’s body.

A new study conducted by MAVIG has shown, that the scattered radiation coming out of the patient’s body leads to a high exposure to the doctor during urology interventions.

Effective radiation protection has to take into account the distinctive features of procedures carried out in the lithotomy position. The source of the radiation is in most cases above the table. This also adds to the high exposure rate of the doctor, especially for their head which is usually unprotected.

Furthermore, common radiation protective shields can be seldomly used due to the special positioning of the patient and the confined space it creates. MAVIG used this as an opportunity to develop a new shield optimized to these specific requirements.
